I have been working as a Plumbing and Heating Engineer for the past 11 years. I started my 3 year work based Plumbing Apprenticeship aged 19 at Wiltshire College, Trowbridge. During this time I worked with my father who has over 40 years experience in the industry and has had his own business for the last 20 years, which provided me with a good start to my career. On completion of my apprenticeship and after gaining my City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services - Plumbing (Domestic) Gas, I went on to work at several larger companies gaining experience in different areas of the industry such as site work, large house renovation projects, hotel/spa maintenance and commercial installations and servicing. I now hold several NIC EIC qualifications in both commercial and domestic gas as well as having completed several Worcester Bosch training courses and assessments for both domestic and commercial boilers such as GB162. I am now a director of Bruler Ltd Heat and Hot Water team which is driven to deliver customer satisfaction and after care.
Coming from a family that all worked in the construction industry, it was a simple decision to start my career in this trade when I left school. I started working for a local building company as a labourer where I gained experience in many aspects of the construction industry. Following from this I went to work with my 2 brothers in a Mechanical & Electrical Company, it was during this time that I trained as a plumbing and heating apprentice. I gained experience in large boiler changes, large gas riser systems, commercial works, domestic works, leisure sites, draining and eventually managing my own sites. I then went on to work with my Father running a small team of plumbers specialising in large domestic dwellings, gaining further experience in ASHP, GSHP, underfloor heating and renewable energy. I then left Essex and moved to Somerset with my family to build my own business working in commercial and domestic environments, it was then that I met Alfie and George when they joined my business and we have been a team since then. As a team we then went to work for a large M&E business where I was able to gain more managerial skills and Alfie and George were able to improve their trade skills. In 2014 myself, Alfie and George decided to set up our own business which brings us to where we are now. At Brûler we hope that we can continue to provide the same standard of service that we have offered our customers during the past 6 years of working together.
I started my plumbing and heating career straight from school at 16 spending 2 years completing a Level 2 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering Services - Plumbing at the City of Bath College, whilst completing the course I worked alongside a plumbing and heating company gaining the onsite experience. I then attended Wiltshire College for the Level 3 NVQ which gained me my Domestic Natural Gas Qualification along with a BPEC in Unvented Hot Water Installations.
I have since worked in the trade gaining 8 years experience in various commercial and domestic aspects including new build houses, large houses/hotels, health spa/gyms, offices and factory's carrying out servicing, maintenance, repair and installation. I have since gone on and completed my OFTEC which allows me to work on heating oil installations. I have also completed the LPG part of my Gas qualification which means I am able to work on bottled gas installations such as caravans and park homes. I have now become a director of my own business (Brûler) with Alfie and Dean as partners, to continue to provide a professional and reliable service to our customers.

After doing my apprenticeship with Brûler and completing my Gas Safe Qualification, I went travelling for 2 years to Australia and New Zealand. I carried on my plumbing career while I was abroad. I returned in August 2017 to rejoin Brûler. I enjoy the variation of the work we carry out, from large commercial jobs to domestic servicing and installations.
I have recently joined Bruler as an apprentice plumbing and heating engineer. I am currently studying at Trowbridge College to complete my Level 2 NVQ in Plumbing and then I will progress onto the Level 3 NVQ in Plumbing and Heating. I will gain my Gas Qualifications and at the end of my apprenticeship I will become registered with the Gas Safe Register. I would also like to train as an Oil Engineer in the future.
Jack joined us in November 2016 as an apprentice.
I previously worked in customer service roles prior to having a family, including a car dealership and airport check in, I now jointly manage the Brûler office alongside Chloe. We manage the general day to day running of the office, organising engineer's jobs, ordering parts, advertising in the local press, customer and supplier invoices and customer enquiries. I enjoy dealing with our customers and we often receive very positive feedback from our customers regarding our professional office staff and engineers.
